3 Ways To Clean Brass Jewelry

I have always been in love with brass because of its gold tone and casual look for everyday styling. In fact, you can find all my love for brass jewelry in my shop here.

The nature of brass metal is that over time it  oxidizes and loses its shine showing that dark tint color on your jewelry. But don't be weary, because you can wear and keep your brass jewelry forever, with some care and a little cleaning using some items you already have in your home.

#1 CLEAN WITH DIY MIXTURE OF SALT, VINEGAR AND FLOUR

  • Mix equal parts of Vinegar and Flour to create a paste
  • Add a few dashes of salt and mix well
  • Soak your jewelry onto the mixture for at least 1 Hour up to overnight depending on how much tarnish you have on your brass.
  • Rinse well with warm water and polish dry with soft cloth.

#2 CLEAN WITH TOOTHPASTE

  • Dab a pea-sized drop of toothpaste on a soft cotton cloth or cotton rounds.
  • Rub on your brass jewelry in mini circular motion until you see the tarnish disappear. Repeat as necessary.
  • Rinse well with warm water and polish dry with soft cloth.

#3 CLEAN WITH MAAS METAL POLISH

  • Just a little dab of this creme goes a long way.
  • Easily wipe on your brass jewelry then wipe off using a soft microfiber cloth.

If Ways #1 and #2 didn't work for you, go with #3. This is not a sponsored post, but out of all the metal polishes that I've tried in the market, I love how Maas Metal Polish reveals that nice shiny, gold tone on brass and it lasts a long time. Also, this metal polish doesn't have that strong chemical odor and actually has a french lavander fragrance. But I still recommend to use this in a well ventilated space.  You can purchase Maas Metal Polish on Amazon for a little less than $10.

See BEFORE and AFTER photos below so you can see the big difference a quick clean can make! Tip: To prolong the shine of your brass jewelry, use a soft cloth to wipe clean after each use.

Note that all of the above were tested with plain brass jewelry only and not on any jewelry with gemstones. Please ask your local jeweler how to clean anything with gemstones. You don't want to mess with those.

Now you can easily clean your brass jewelry to wear and keep forever!
